Annual Inspections

DOT Inspection
DOT Inspection is a Department of Transportation safety inspection. The safety inspection is required Federally and to be performed annually, for all Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating of more than 10,001 pounds that travel outside of California (Interstate). This inspection is to be performed in addition to the California Highway Patrol (C.H.P.) Basic Inspection of Terminals (B.I.T.) inspection that occurs every 90 days. The Annual or Periodic DOT Vehicle Inspections (the inspections in which you receive a sticker on the CMV indicating that it has passed inspection) must be conducted by a Qualified Inspector at a minimum of once every 12 months, and includes the inspection includes the inspection of the interior, exterior, chassis, engine, electric, trailers, tires and brakes.
